This exquisite 15th-16th century Burmese Mon Buddha statue exemplifies the rich artistic heritage of Myanmar, formerly known as Burma. Crafted from bronze, the statue stands at 19.5 cm in height and features a striking burial patina that highlights its age and historical significance.

The Mon style, known for its graceful proportions and serene expressions, reflects the Buddhist influences that permeated Burmese culture during this era. This statue is particularly notable for its depiction of the Bhumisparsha mudra, a gesture symbolizing the moment of enlightenment and the Buddha's call to the Earth to witness his purity.

The Mon people, one of the earliest ethnic groups in Southeast Asia, played a crucial role in the spread of Buddhism in the region from the 11th century onwards. This connection to both cultural and spiritual history deepens the significance of the statue. The detailed craftsmanship and historical provenance provide a valuable insight into the Mon artistic traditions and the broader narrative of Buddhism's impact on Burma.

With a depth of 13.5 cm, this finely crafted piece serves not only as a decorative object but also a poignant reminder of the spiritual and cultural legacies that continue to influence Myanmar today.
