This antique wooden Burmese Nat statue stands at an impressive height of 66.7 cm and showcases the intricate artistry of 19th-century craftsmanship from Burma (Myanmar). Gilded with 24-karat gold, the statue features a striking red base, enhancing its overall aesthetic appeal.

In Burmese culture, Nats are considered spirit guardians that embody various aspects of nature and human existence. They are deeply rooted in local folklore, often representing protective ancestors or deities that bless individuals and communities. This particular statue likely depicts a Nat associated with guidance or martial prowess, signified by the raised sword, a symbol of protection and strength.

The intricate details etched into the figure, from the facial expressions to the attire, reflect the rich artistic heritage of Myanmar, where woodcarving has been a prominent form of artistic expression for centuries. Traditionally, these statues were used in rituals and placed in homes or shrines to invoke the blessings of the Nats.

This statue not only serves as a decorative piece but also as a historical artifact that offers insight into the spiritual and cultural tapestry of Burma, making it a significant addition for collectors and enthusiasts of Asian art.
