Description

This large antique Burmese throne, measuring 210 cm in height and crafted from wood, embodies the rich artistic heritage of Burmese (Myanmar) craftsmanship from the 19th century. The throne, gilded with 24-karat gold, showcases intricate designs characteristic of the Mandalay style, known for its flamboyance and detailed ornamentation, reflective of the region's royal and religious significance.

Historically, thrones like this served not only as seats for nobility but also as sacred spaces for spiritual practices, symbolizing the deep connection between governance and the divine in Burmese culture. The ornate carvings feature mythical creatures and floral motifs, illustrating the fusion of earthly and celestial realms, a key element in Buddhist art.

This throne is a rare and exceptional piece, comprising ten different parts, making it adaptable for shipping worldwide. Though it is available to purchase separately, an original matching Buddha statue complements the throne's grandeur, offering a complete decorative and spiritual set.

Admired for their craftsmanship, 19th-century Burmese artifacts remain treasured for their historical value and cultural significance, making this throne not just a furniture piece, but a testament to the artistic legacy and spiritual traditions of Myanmar.
