Description

This large antique Nepali Tara statue stands at an impressive height of 87 cm and features intricate craftsmanship typical of the Late 19th century. Crafted from bronze, the statue reflects a rich history of artistry that flourished in Nepal, a country known for its deeply rooted Buddhist traditions.

Tara, often referred to as the "Mother of Liberation," is an important figure in Buddhism, representing compassion and action. This statue captures her poised posture and serene expression, embodying both strength and grace. The detailed work on the statue is indicative of Nepalese artistry, which often blends various cultural influences from India, Tibet, and the surrounding Himalayan regions, generating a unique aesthetic.

The base of the statue is adorned with lotus petals, symbolizing purity and spiritual awakening, while Tara's attire and the ornate details around her are characteristic of authentic Nepali craftsmanship. The statue's hand gestures, or mudra, imply protection and assurance, serving as a reminder of her role in guiding followers through challenges.

Originating from the heart of the Himalayas, this sculpture not only serves as an exquisite decorative piece but also offers a glimpse into the spiritual and historical richness of Nepalese culture, making it a meaningful addition to any collection.
