This exquisite 15th-16th century bronze Thai Lanna Buddha statue stands at a height of 45.4 cm and demonstrates the artistry and spiritual significance of the Lanna Kingdom. The intricate craftsmanship reflects the rich Buddhist traditions prevalent in Northern Thailand, where artistry flourished during this period, combining local influences with broader Southeast Asian styles.

The statue features traces of 24-karat gilding, enhancing its visual impact and signifying the importance of the depicted figure. The inscriptions, translated from the Lanna Folk Life Museum, convey a poignant message: "Maha Ubataeka Tura Sattha - had this Buddha image made to enshrine Buddhism for 5000 years and to give me enlightenment like the Lord Buddha." This inscription highlights the enduring desire for enlightenment and spiritual guidance that has characterized Buddhism for centuries.

Originating from a former French collection and later passing to an Australian collector, this statue carries a rich provenance that speaks to its value and historical significance. The "Late Mang-Rayi Third Period" style adds to its authenticity, indicating its creation during a notable era in Lanna art history.

With a weight of 8.32 kg and dimensions of 27.3 cm in width and 16.8 cm in depth, this sculpture not only serves as a profound spiritual artifact but also as an elegant piece of heritage that reflects the deeply rooted culture and history of Thailand.
