Description

This special antique bronze Arakan Buddha statue stands at 30 cm tall and measures 22 cm in width. Crafted from a high-quality bronze alloy comprising five different metals, predominantly silver, it also features traces of 24-karat gold, enhancing its beauty and significance. This statue reflects the rich artistic heritage of Burma (Myanmar), particularly the Arakan region, known for its distinct style of Buddhist art.

Dating back to the 17th century, this statue exemplifies the craftsmanship of its era, combining fine detail with spiritual symbolism. The serene expression and poised figure represent tranquility and enlightenment, hallmarks of Buddhist teachings. The Arakan style is characterized by a graceful representation of the Buddha, often portrayed in a meditative posture that invites contemplation and introspection.

The statue assumes the Bhumisparsha mudra, which signifies the moment of the Buddha's enlightenment. This gesture represents the calling upon the Earth to witness his awakening, a powerful reminder of the profound spiritual journey that the Buddha undertook.

As a reflection of Burmese culture, this artifact not only serves as an artistic expression but also as a spiritual symbol that has endured through centuries, offering insight into the rich history of Buddhism in the region.
