Description

This exquisite antique bronze Thai Buddha statue, hailing from Thailand's Rattanakosin period in the 19th century, embodies both artistic mastery and rich cultural heritage. Standing at 44.5 cm tall, the statue is gilded with 24 karat gold, enhancing its spiritual and aesthetic appeal. The craftsmanship reflects centuries of tradition, where artisans intricately designed the Buddha in a seated position, symbolizing meditation and inner peace.

The statue features the Bhumisparsha mudra, a gesture of the Buddha that represents the moment of his enlightenment under the Bodhi tree. This mudra signifies the earth's witness to his attainment of knowledge and serves as a reminder of the strength and resolve in seeking truth.

Thailand has a deep-rooted history in Buddhism, which has significantly shaped its cultural landscape. The Rattanakosin period, starting in the late 18th century, marked the establishment of Bangkok as the capital and saw a flourishing of Buddhist art and architecture. This statue not only reflects the religious devotion of the time but also serves as an enduring symbol of peace and harmony.

With a width of 26.8 cm and a depth of 16 cm, this statue is a perfect representation of Thailand's artistic legacy, making it a significant addition for collectors and those who appreciate the spiritual depth of Asian art.
