Description

This antique bronze Thai Rattanakosin Buddha statue, standing at 27 cm tall, is a remarkable representation of the Rattanakosin period, which extends from the late 18th century to the 20th century. Characterized by intricate craftsmanship and the use of gilded 24 karat gold, this piece emanates the spiritual elegance associated with Buddhist artistry in Thailand.

The statue is notable for its serene expression and detailed depiction of the robes, reflecting the artistic style of the Rattanakosin era, which combined traditional elements with influences from surrounding cultures due to increased contact through trade. Notably, the base showcases a multi-tiered design, enhancing its visual impact and symbolizing the spiritual ascent in Buddhist practice.

Although there is a missing part of the snake on the backside, this does not detract from the statue's historical value; rather, it adds to the narrative of age and reverence. Weighing 2.27 kg and measuring 19.5 cm in width and 13.7 cm in depth, this statue serves as a meaningful piece of Thai heritage, representing not only artistic skill but also the cultural belief in the path to enlightenment.

The Dhyana mudra, commonly associated with meditation, invites reflection and tranquility, making this statue a perfect addition for collectors or a meditative space, representing a rich history that continues to inspire.
