Description

This stunning antique bronze Thai Rattanakosin Buddha, measuring 47 cm in height, is an exquisite representation of the Rattanakosin period from the 19th century. Crafted from bronze, it features intricate detailing that reflects the artistic sensibilities of the time and the cultural significance of Buddhism in Thailand.

The Rattanakosin period, beginning in 1782, marked a renaissance of Thai art and architecture. This era is distinguished by its elaborate temple designs and the refinement of Buddha statues, which were often created to inspire spiritual devotion and convey the teachings of Buddha. The use of gold and bronze symbolizes purity and enlightenment, further enhancing the statue's sacred nature.

This specific piece displays the Bhumisparsha mudra, which signifies the moment of Buddha's enlightenment. This gesture—depicting Buddha reaching towards the earth—represents the earth as a witness to his achievement, symbolizing steadfastness and the grounding of spiritual authority.

Originating from Thailand, this sculpture embodies centuries of rich history and tradition. It weighs 17.05 kg and has dimensions of 35 cm in width and 21 cm in depth, making it a compelling addition to any collection or a meaningful decorative statement for personal space. The weathered patina speaks to its age and authenticity, offering a tangible connection to the past.
