The artist has skillfully used lacquerware, creating a striking contrast between the shimmering gold and the deep undertones of the base.

The statue depicts the Bhumisparsha mudra, a gesture symbolizing the moment when the Buddha achieved enlightenment under the Bodhi tree, signifying the Earth’s support as a witness to his awakening. This mudra holds great significance in Buddhist tradition, representing the unity of the spiritual and material worlds, and serves as a powerful reminder of inner peace and mindfulness.

The Shan people, an ethnic group in Myanmar, have a storied history that blends various cultural influences, making their artistic expressions both unique and reflective of diverse traditions. This statue not only serves as a spiritual artifact but also as a testament to the artistic prowess of the Shan artisans.
