This exquisite antique crowned Buddha fragment originates from Burma (Myanmar) and dates back to the 17th century, reflecting the rich spiritual heritage of the region. The statue, measuring 27 cm in height, features a notable bronze construction, with a height of 19 cm for the figure itself. The Shan (Tai Yai) style demonstrates the local artistic traditions, characterized by graceful forms and intricate details.

The seated Buddha is depicted with a serene expression, embodying the essential qualities of compassion and tranquility. This representation illustrates the Buddha’s attainment of enlightenment, a central theme in Buddhist art. The crown symbolizes the divine nature of the Buddha, often associated with his status as a spiritual guide.

In Burmese history, the 17th century marked a period of cultural flourishing where Buddhism was deeply intertwined with daily life. Artisans of the time created religious artifacts that not only served decorative purposes but also played significant roles in spiritual practices and rituals. This particular fragment captures the essence of that era, showcasing both artistic skill and spiritual reverence.
