The Antique Shan Buddha on Throne is a remarkable piece of art hailing from Burma (Myanmar), dating back to the 19th century. Crafted from lacquerware and adorned with 24-karat gold gilding, this statue exemplifies the intricate artistry and spiritual significance associated with Buddhist iconography in the region. Standing at 85.5 cm in height and measuring 38 cm in width and 29.5 cm in depth, it showcases exceptional craftsmanship, elevating it to a high-quality collectible.

The Shan style, also known as Tai Yai, reflects the unique cultural influences of the Shan people, who have a rich history intertwined with the broader social and religious landscape of Myanmar. The stylized throne on which the Buddha is seated further enhances the sacred nature of the figure, emphasizing the importance of Buddha in local traditions.

This statue is depicted in the Bhumisparsha mudra, a gesture symbolizing the moment of Buddha's enlightenment under the Bodhi tree, representing the calling of the earth as a witness to his attainment of truth. The combination of craftsmanship and spiritual symbolism makes this statue not only a decorative item but also a meaningful representation of Buddhist teachings and the artistic heritage of Myanmar. With a weight of 4.1 kg, it serves as both a distinguished art piece and a testament to the enduring legacy of Burma's rich cultural history.
