The Bhumisparsha mudra, which symbolizes the moment of Buddha's enlightenment, is depicted in this statue. In this gesture, the right hand reaches down to touch the earth, representing Buddha's call to the earth as a witness to his quest for enlightenment.

Burma has a long-standing tradition of creating religious artifacts, with Buddhism playing a critical role in shaping the country's culture and artistry. The Shan people, known for their unique styles and techniques, have contributed significantly to the rich tapestry of Burmese art. The use of wood as a primary material not only signifies the natural beauty of the region but also reflects the deep connection between spirituality and nature that characterizes Burmese Buddhism.
