Crafted from wood and featuring traces of 24-karat gilding, this statue exemplifies the artistry characteristic of the time. Its serene and composed expression captures the essence of Buddhist philosophy, reflecting a profound commitment to meditation and enlightenment.

The Buddha is depicted in a seated posture, embodying the Bhumisparsha mudra, also known as the “earth-touching” gesture. This mudra signifies the moment of the Buddha's enlightenment under the Bodhi tree, invoking the earth as a witness to his resolve and determination towards attaining spiritual awakening.

Thailand's historical context enriches the significance of this piece, as Ayutthaya was not only a political center but also a focal point for trade and cultural exchange. The craftsmanship and materials used in this statue serve as a testament to the high level of skill among Thai artisans of the period, providing an exceptional glimpse into the spiritual and artistic traditions of ancient Thailand. With a weight of 1.45 kg and dimensions of 24 cm wide and 13 cm deep, this statue is a remarkable representation of Thai history and culture.
