Description

This 18th-century antique wooden Thai Buddha statue exemplifies the rich artistic heritage of Thailand. Standing at 20.1 cm tall and gilded with 24-karat gold, this piece captures the essence of traditional Thai craftsmanship. The statue's intricate design reflects the influence of both Buddhist iconography and local artistic sensibilities, characteristic of the era.

The Bhumisparsha mudra, represented in this statue, signifies the moment of enlightenment, depicting the Buddha touching the earth to call upon it as a witness to his awakening. This gesture embodies a profound connection between the spiritual and the physical realms, emphasizing the Buddha's path to enlightenment.

Thailand boasts a history deeply intertwined with Buddhism, which became the dominant religion in the region around the 13th century. This statue, crafted from wood, not only illustrates the devotion of craftsmen from that period but also serves as a reminder of the enduring spiritual traditions that continue to shape Thai culture.

At 7 cm wide and 4.4 cm deep, and weighing 134 grams, this statue can easily enhance any collection or serve as a meaningful decorative piece in a spiritual space. Whether used for meditation or displayed as a work of art, this Thai Buddha statue represents centuries of cultural and spiritual heritage.
