Description

This exquisite Old Bronze Burmese Buddha Statue stands at 56 cm tall and reflects the craftsmanship of the early 20th century. Originating from Burma (Myanmar), this piece embodies the Shan (Tai Yai) style, which is characterized by a harmonious blend of spiritual significance and artistic finesse.

The statue features the Varada mudra, a gesture symbolizing compassion and the granting of wishes. This mudra signifies the Buddha's role as a benevolent figure, reinforcing the principles of generosity and kindness. The intricate detailing on the statue, from the serene facial expression to the elaborate base, highlights the extraordinary skill of the artisans from the Shan region, who sought to convey the ethereal nature of the Buddha.

Burma, with its rich tapestry of Buddhist history, has been a spiritual center since the arrival of Buddhism in the region around the 3rd century BCE. The cultural significance of Buddha statues in Burmese society transcends mere decoration; they serve as manifestations of spiritual guidance and meditation. This particular statue, weighing 13.15 kg, captures the enduring essence of the Buddhist tradition, inviting contemplation and reflection in any setting.

This remarkable piece not only serves as a symbol of faith but also as a testament to the artistic heritage of Myanmar, celebrating the profound influence of Buddhism in shaping the nation's cultural identity.
