Description

This exquisite Buddha statue, standing at 20.7 cm tall and weighing 1.57 kg, is a representation of the Dharmachakra mudra, a symbolic gesture conveying the teaching of the Dharma. Crafted from bronze and adorned with fire gilding in 24-karat gold, this piece reflects the rich artistry and craftsmanship of late 20th-century Nepal.

The Dharmachakra mudra, depicted with the hands positioned in front of the heart, signifies the turning of the wheel of Dharma and the initiation of the Buddha's teachings. This gesture embodies the concept of imparting wisdom and guiding followers on the path to enlightenment.

Originating from Nepal, a country steeped in Buddhist tradition, this statue encapsulates centuries of cultural heritage and spiritual devotion. The craftsmanship involved highlights the intricate detailing of the robe and the serene expression of the Buddha, making it not only a spiritual emblem but also a stunning decorative piece.

Nepal's strong historical ties to Buddhism can be traced back to the life of Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha, who was born in Lumbini, now a UNESCO World Heritage site. The artistry of Nepalese sculptors has flourished over the years, ensuring that pieces like this one continue to inspire and evoke a sense of peace and mindfulness.
