Description

This striking old bronze Thai Buddha statue stands at an impressive height of 97 cm, with a width of 70 cm and a depth of 41 cm. Crafted in the early to middle 20th century, this piece exemplifies the U-Thong A style, characterized by its graceful form and serene expression, reflecting the deep spiritual heritage of Thailand.

The statue exhibits authentic traces of 24-karat gilding, a mark of artistry that enhances its visual appeal and underscores the significance of gold in Buddhist art, symbolizing purity and enlightenment. The Bhumisparsha mudra, depicted in the statue, represents the moment of the Buddha's enlightenment, where he calls the Earth to witness his attainment of Nirvana.

Thailand's rich history in Buddhism dates back over a millennium, strongly influencing its culture and art. The U-Thong style emerged in the central region of Thailand, evoking a period when artists sought to convey both aesthetic beauty and spiritual meaning through their works.

This remarkable bronze statue not only serves as a decorative piece but also as a powerful symbol of wisdom and peace, making it an extraordinary addition to any collection or space dedicated to mindfulness and reflection. Its origins and craftsmanship embody the enduring legacy of Thai artistry and spiritual devotion.
