This exquisite Old Thai Bronze U-Thong Buddha statue, measuring 89 cm in height, showcases the classic Thai U-Thong style, characterized by its graceful proportions and serene expression. Originating from Thailand during the Middle 20th century, this statue reflects an important period in Thai art history, known for its emphasis on elegant form and spiritual embodiment.

The U-Thong style, which began around the 14th century, is emblematic of the Sukhothai period's influence, merging both historical and artistic elements while incorporating features from the Rattanakosin era. This statue is adorned with traces of 24 karat gilding, exemplifying the craftsmanship and devotion involved in its creation. The use of bronze not only enhances its durability but also signifies the material's sacred importance in Buddhist artifacts.

The statue adopts the Bhumisparsha mudra, a gesture symbolizing the Buddha's enlightenment and the moment he attained Nirvana under the Bodhi tree. This pose conveys deep spiritual meaning, representing the connection between the earthly realm and enlightenment.

As a reflection of Thailand's rich cultural history, this U-Thong Buddha statue serves not just as a religious symbol, but also as a work of art that captures the essence of Buddhist philosophy and the pursuit of inner peace.
