This exquisite Antique Wooden Burmese Shan Buddha represents a remarkable artifact from Burma (Myanmar), dating back to the late 19th century. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the statue stands at 18 cm tall and is gilded with 24 karat gold, capturing the light beautifully and highlighting the intricate craftsmanship of the Shan (Tai Yai) style.

The Shan style is characterized by its elegant, flowing forms and serene expressions, reflecting the spiritual quest for enlightenment. The statue features the Bhumisparsha mudra, a gesture that symbolizes the moment of Buddha's enlightenment, where he reached out to touch the earth, calling it as a witness to his enlightenment. This mudra conveys themes of stability and grounding, profoundly significant in Buddhist philosophy.

Burma's rich history includes the influence of Buddhism, which permeated various aspects of life and culture. The Shan people, known for their artistry and craftsmanship, have contributed significantly to the Buddhist art scene in Southeast Asia, blending local traditions with broader influences.

Weighing 236 grams and measuring 9.8 cm wide by 5.7 cm deep, this statue not only serves as a decorative piece but also as a timeless reminder of the teachings of peace and compassion inherent in Buddhism. Its allure and spiritual significance make it a valuable addition to any collection.
