Description

This remarkable large bronze Nepali Buddha statue, standing at 61 cm in height, is a fine example of mid-20th century craftsmanship. Fire gilded with 24-karat gold, the statue showcases intricate detailing that highlights the skill of its artisans. Spanning 49 cm in width and 39 cm in depth, this statue not only serves as a stunning decorative piece but also embodies deep cultural and spiritual significance.

Originating from Nepal, a country rich in Buddhist traditions, this statue reflects the historical importance of Buddhism in the region. The craftsmanship carries the legacy of ancient art forms that have thrived in the Kathmandu Valley, where such statues are often meticulously created and venerated.

The statue depicts the Bhumisparsha mudra, symbolizing the moment of enlightenment when Siddhartha Gautama, the historical Buddha, called upon the Earth to witness his attainment of Buddhahood. This gesture embodies the Buddha’s victory over Mara, representing ignorance and temptation, and signifies the quest for truth.

This statue not only serves as a beautiful representation of spiritual ideals but also stands as a testament to Nepal’s artistic heritage, making it a cherished addition for collectors and those seeking to connect with the profound teachings of Buddhism.
