This exquisite museum-quality Burmese Buddha statue, originating from the Ava period of 16th century Burma (now Myanmar), showcases the artistry and cultural significance of Buddhist traditions in the region. Standing at 30 cm tall and 22 cm wide, this bronze statue reflects the intricate craftsmanship characteristic of its time.

The statue is depicted in the Bhumisparsha mudra, a gesture symbolizing the act of calling the Earth to witness one's enlightenment, commonly associated with the historical Buddha. This particular pose serves as a profound reminder of the Buddha's teachings and the pivotal moment of his enlightenment under the Bodhi tree.

Burma has a rich history of Buddhist influence, with the Ava dynasty being a significant period for both religious and artistic development. Known for its architectural marvels and an abundance of spiritual artifacts, Ava was pivotal in the propagation of Theravada Buddhism in Southeast Asia. The style of this statue reflects key elements of traditional sculptural art from this era, combining devotional expressiveness with a strong sense of form.

This Buddha statue serves not only as a representation of faith but also as an artifact that embodies the historical legacy of Burmese culture, making it an invaluable addition to any collection.
