Description

The Old Bronze Nepali Lokeshwor statue, measuring 41 cm in height and intricately fire gilded with 24 karat gold, exemplifies the rich artistic heritage of Nepal, particularly from the middle to late 20th century. Crafted from high-quality bronze, this statue weighs 3.25 kg and features exquisite detailing, including its 20 cm width and 13.5 cm depth, highlighting the artisan’s skill.

Lokeshwor, also known as Avalokiteshvara, represents compassion and is revered in both Buddhist and Hindu traditions. The statue captures his essence beautifully, embodying the ideals of benevolence and mercy. Its elaborate headdress and flowing garments are characteristic of traditional Nepali artistry, which draws heavily on both religious and cultural motifs.

Nepal's history of metalwork dates back centuries, with artisans mastering techniques passed down through generations. This craftsmanship is reflected in the meticulous detailing and use of gold leaf, a practice that elevates the spiritual significance of the statue. Such artifacts not only serve as decorative pieces but are also essential in the practice and ritual of worship within various traditions.
