This striking antique bronze Burmese Mandalay Buddha, measuring 54.7 cm in height, is a remarkable embodiment of 19th-century craftsmanship. Originating from Burma, known today as Myanmar, this statue reflects the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of the region, where traditional Buddhist art has evolved over centuries.

The sculpture features meticulously inlaid eyes and inscriptions on the pedestal, likely honoring the donor who contributed the statue to a temple, emphasizing its historical context and significance. The figure is adorned with a double sanghati, a rare detail that adds to its uniqueness and authenticity.

Representing the Bhumisparsha mudra, this pose signifies the moment of enlightenment, where the Buddha calls the Earth to witness his attainment of nirvana. Mandalay style, characterized by its detailed ornamentation and expressive features, captures the essence of Burmese artistry during its zenith in the 19th century.
