Description

This exquisite large Burmese Buddha statue, originating from Myanmar, showcases the artistry and rich cultural heritage of the 19th century. Standing at 135 cm tall and weighing approximately 60 kg, it is a remarkable representation of traditional Burmese craftsmanship.

Gilded with 24-karat gold, the statue features intricate detailing that reflects the skillful techniques employed by artisans in the Mandalay style. The elaborate royal costume and crown enhance the statue’s regal presence, symbolizing the Buddha's nobility and enlightenment. The combination of wood with marble accents on the head, hands, and feet adds a striking contrast to the statue's overall aesthetic.

The statue is depicted in a Bhumisparsha mudra, which signifies the moment of the Buddha's enlightenment. This gesture indicates the Buddha's resolve in the face of temptation, exemplifying strength and focus.

Burma has a deep spiritual tradition, heavily influenced by Buddhism. The artistry of this statue is a testament to the significant role that craftsmanship and religious artistry play in Burmese culture. It serves as both a spiritual icon and a historical artifact, representing the devotion and skills of the artisans who created it, ensuring that this beautiful piece remains a cherished legacy of Myanmar's artistic history.
