Description

This remarkable antique Burmese crowned Buddha, measuring 108 cm in height, exemplifies the exquisite artistry of the 18th century. Crafted from lacquerware and gilded in 24-karat gold, it features a beautiful expression that invites contemplation and admiration.

Originating from Myanmar (Burma), this statue reflects the rich cultural tapestry of Southeast Asia, where Buddhism has long been a foundational aspect of daily life and artistic expression. The Shan (Tai Yai) style is particularly noted for its elegance and intricate detailing, making such high-quality pieces rare in the market today. This statue retains its original removable crown, a testament to the skill of its creators and the importance of regal imagery in Buddhist sculpture.

The Buddha is depicted in a Bhumisparsha mudra, symbolizing the moment of the Buddha's enlightenment, when he called upon the Earth to bear witness to his realization. This gesture encapsulates themes of stability and grounding, resonating deeply within Buddhist philosophy.

Measuring 58 cm in width and 46 cm in depth, this antique's substantial size and weight of 17 kg add to its impressive presence, making it a significant addition to any collection. Shipping is available worldwide, allowing admirers from afar the opportunity to own a piece of history.
