Lavastone Buddha statues
Lavastone arises after a volcanic eruption from solidified lava and can be grey, black, brown or red in color.
Lavastone can be found in regions where volcanic activity has occurred. The term “lava” refers to molten rock that has reached the Earth’s surface.

Much of the volcanic stone used for carving in Java comes from volcanic regions, including areas around Mount Merapi. Mount Merapi remains highly active and has erupted repeatedly since 2010. After volcanic rock has cooled and solidified, suitable stone can be selected and quarried for carving.
The lavastone Buddha statues that we sell are made of the best and hardest quality lavastone that is available. It can therefor stand the cold winters.
